The Spital Sermon 2026
Originating in the late 14th century, since the end of The Second World War it has been preached here in the church of St Lawrence Jewry, with pupils of Christ’s Hospital School and King Edward’s School Witley providing readers and the choir for the service. The service is attended by the Lady Mayor, the Court of Aldermen, Common Councilmen, and the governors of the schools, with a guest preacher on the theme of ‘the spread of truth’.
